Why LINQ?

If one wants to develop database application today on .NET platform, the simplest approach he/she would take is to use ADO.NET. ADO.NET serves as a middle-ware in the application and provides complete object oriented wrapper around the database (MS SQL Server).

So developers must have good knowledge of OOP as well as SQL. So developer must be familiar with both technologies to develop an application.

According to Anders (Chief architect of C# 3.0)
Microsoft’ motivation behind LINQ was to address the impedance mismatch between programming languages and databases.
